Scotland - Edinburgh & East Lothian

Craigielaw

Par 71, 6601 Yards
Craigielaw is the newest links course to have been built in East Lothian and offers a challenge for all levels of golfers. A wide variety of holes and rolling greens characterise this course which enjoys magnificent views over Aberlady Bay and the Firth of Forth.

Dalmahoy - East Course

Located just south of Edinburgh is the East Course at Dalmahoy (6,677 yards, par 72). One of Scotland's finest inland courses, Dalmahoy is set at the foot of the Pentland Hills. The East Course was originally designed in 1927 by the great James Braid.

Dunbar

Par 71, 6406 Yards
Laid out on a narrow strip of land, this is a typical Scottish links with nine holes out and nine holes back in. The layout originates from 1856. A stone wall, originally an estate barrier, still runs along the entire course and can be a factor to consider in playing. The town of Dunbar is found 30 miles east of downtown Edinburgh, 15 minutes or so from the courses at Gullane.

Gullane No. 1

Par 72, 6466 Yards
There are three courses in the charming golf town of Gullane, but at 6466 yards, the No. 1 course is the toughest test. No. 1 is quite different from most Scottish links courses as it offers great elevation changes. In fact, it's quite hilly and can be a struggle on the old knees and ankles. The panoramic view from the top of Gullane Hill on the 7th hole is one of the most famous in all of golf. Established in 1884, the club is also one of Scotland's oldest. For anyone spending time in Edinburgh, Gullane No. 1 must be played. It's a great, great course.

Please note: Gullane No. 1 has handicap restrictions of 24 for men and 30 for women.

Gullane No. 2

Par 71, 6244 Yards
Although shorter in length than Gullane No. 1, the No. 2 Course offers terrific links golf in the true Scottish tradition. The course opened in 1898 and runs along next to No. 1 for most of the front side before heading out on its own towards Aberlady Bay. The wide open views are excellent. Number 11, in particular, is a tricky par three with a magnificent view.

Muirfield, Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers

Muirfield is home to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers which is regarded as the oldest Golf Club in the world having been founded in 1744. Designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1891, Muirfield has been host to The Open 15 times with the most recent being in 2002 when Ernie Els won his first Open Championship. Muirfield is a fantastic course that is consistently rated in the top ten courses in the world. Please note that direct play by visitors is limited to Tuesday and Thursday only. Handicap requirements are 18 or less for men and 24 or less for women.

North Berwick

Par 71, 6420 Yards
Test your shot-making skills on the West Links at North Berwick, a "natural links" with nine holes out and nine holes back in. The course offers some spectacular views toward Bass Rock and the North Sea. Two of the holes, the 14th ("Perfection") and the 15th ("Redan"), have been imitated all over the world. Located just 30 miles east of Edinburgh, North Berwick has long been a Golfpac favorite!
