SAUNTON EAST
This wonderful links course has played host to many major national and international championships during its 110 year history. A completely natural layout set amid the spectacular sand hills of Braunton Burrows, the East Course provides a peaceful environment with only the sound of the sea for company. It also provides a great test of golf for all standards. Nick Faldo has been one of its many fans since playing here as a boy. To quote his own words: "I've no doubt that if the East Course were located on the coast of Lancashire or Kent it would have hosted an Open Championship by now".

Saunton Sands Hotel
SAUNTON SANDS HOTEL
(Standard Inland View Room)

Whatever you want from your holiday in Devon, we're confident that you will find it at The Saunton Sands Hotel.
THURSDAY
GOLF:

Saunton west
SAUNTON WEST
Set in the shadows of the giant sand hills of Braunton Burrows, the West Course at Saunton is a Championship course in its own right. In 2006 it was the venue for the British Seniors Amateur Championship with competitors taking part from all around the golfing world. The West Course (6138 yards) will test all parts of your game and approach shots into the well guarded greens need to be hit with absolute precision. Nick Faldo suggests that "the landscape on the West Course is perhaps even more spectacular than the East course and I cannot think of anywhere in England where 36 holes could be more enjoyable".

Royal North Devon
ROYAL NORTH DEVON
A golfing pilgrimage to Royal North Devon (England's Oldest Links Course, 1864) is a must for anyone interested in the history of golf. The course 'still on its original site' is like taking a step back in time to see how golf was played a hundred years ago. The course however stands the test of time and is still a great test for any standard of golfer (6653 yards). When visiting Royal North Devon make sure that you spend some time looking around the club house. The memorabilia and history found in the Museum is rivaled only by that found in the Royal & Ancient club house of St Andrews.

J H Taylor, the first club Professional, played an important part in development of the playing side of the club, but the shape of today's course is mainly due to Harry Colt. There is a large lounge with comfortable seating and television and a fully equipped kitchenette.
