GOLF:

Nairn Golf Club
NAIRN GOLF CLUB
We highly recommend a round at Nairn Golf Club, which hosted the 1999 Walker's Cup. Founded in 1887, the course is a traditional links with the opening holes stretching out along the shoreline. At the 10th comes the inevitable about-turn and the head for home. It's said the opening holes are the toughest, but that inevitably depends on the direction of the wind. Most notably, the course is well-known throughout the U.K. for the quality of its greens. They truly are some of the finest in all of the British Isles.
Please note: Nairn has handicap restrictions of 28 for men and 36 for women.

ROYAL DORNOCH
Located about an hour north of Inverness is the fantastic seaside links at Royal Dornoch (6,591 yards, par 70). Golf was first played at Dornoch as early as 1616, and the golf course is considered to be the third oldest in the world. Its location is remote, but that adds to its charisma and mystery. Bordered by the Dornoch Firth, Royal Dornoch will take you back in time to the beginnings of golf. The course is currently ranked #16 in the world by Golf Magazine (2011 rankings).
Please note: Royal Dornoch has handicap restrictions of 24 for men and 35 for women.

Castle Stuart Golf Links
GOLF:
CASTLE STUART GOLF LINKS
With its opening in July 2009, Castle Stuart promises to become one of the finest links course in Scotland. Castle Stuart is located six miles east of Inverness and 1 hour south of Royal Dornoch. Designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse, this championship links course overlooks the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks of Inverness and the Black Isle. The topography of the site steps back from the sea up and over an old sea cliff creating a step to an upper level slope. Because of this tiered/sloped aspect, the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks figure prominently on every hole at Castle Stuart Golf Links; for fifteen holes the sea is directly in the golfer's line of play; the other three holes offer vistas of the firth and prominent landmarks although not directly on the line of play. This course is a true Highland gem and was recently ranked #56 in the world by Golf Magazine (2011 rankings)

Cruden Bay
GOLF:
CRUDEN BAY
Cruden Bay (6,395 yards, par 70) is located about 25 miles north of Aberdeen along the northeast Scottish coast. The current layout dates back to 1899, when Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews was commissioned by the Great North of Scotland Railway to build a new course. The resulting links remains one of the Scotland's most exciting designs with dramatic dunes, unrivaled scenery and a slew of tough holes. It's always ranked among the U.K's best and currently ranks #83 in the world by Golf Magazine (2011 rankings). Awesome, awesome golf!

Royal Aberdeen
GOLF:
ROYAL ABERDEEN
Site of Tom Watson's victory in the 2005 Senior Open Championship, Royal Aberdeen is considered one of the oldest clubs in the world with records dating back to 1589. At 6,850 yards from the championship tees, this par-70 links can be very demanding when the wind blows off the North Sea. The course features a variety of excellent holes including two great par fives. The eighth hole is particularly daunting with 10 bunkers protecting the green.
Please note: Royal Aberdeen has handicap restrictions of 24 or lower for both men and women.

Carnoustie Golf Links
GOLF:
CARNOUSTIE GOLF LINKS
Seven times a British Open course, Carnoustie is a stern challenge. Ben Hogan's only British Open appearance (and victory) took place here in 1953. The venerable links played host to the 1999 British Open which saw one of the most bizarre finishes in history. Frenchman Jean Van de Velde held a three shot lead with one hole remaining and took a triple bogey on the 18th to set up a three man playoff. Paul Lawrie, a native Scot, played brilliantly on the final two holes of the playoff for the victory over Van de Velde and Justin Leonard. The course hosted its seventh Open Championship in July 2007. The course is currently ranked #21 in the world by Golf Magazine (2011 rankings).
Please note: Carnoustie has handicap restrictions of 24 for men and 36 for women. Following golf continue to Stirling (1 hour 30 minutes) where you will remain for your final night.
