Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Links
ROSAPENNA HOTEL & GOLF RESORT, DOWNINGS (Standard Room)
Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Links is a great hotel in one of golf’s most remote locations. The hotel is situated on the northwest coast of County Donegal, just a short stroll from the fishing village of Downings. The hotel has great amenities including tennis, snooker, nearby beaches, indoor pool, whirlpool, steam room, and conference facilities. But, your trip is all about golf and Rosapenna will not disappoint with two excellent tracks. The original links dates back to Old Tom Morris’ visit in 1891, when he first staked out the course. Although additions and changes were made later by Harry Vardon and James Braid, the layout remains as natural as it was in Old Tom’s day. A second course, by Pat Ruddy, opened to great fanfare in 2002. Both are incredible challenges over some of the finest linksland in the world.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
Today is your practice round day.
GOLF:

Sandy Hills at Rosapenna Golf Links
SANDY HILLS at ROSAPENNA GOLF LINKS
Only open since 2003, Pat Ruddy’s design at Rosapenna—appropriately named Sandy Hills—is truly one of golf’s great modern links courses. Ruddy had some great land to work with and he utilized the huge dunes to great effect. At over 7200 yards from the tips, the course was built with the serious golfer in mind; however, there are five sets of tees and most fairways (although narrow looking from the tee) offer plenty of landing area. Add the wind blowing in off the Atlantic and you’ll have your hands full on this awesome course.
Following golf enjoy lunch in the clubhouse. Optional sightseeing (depending on time of day).
ACCOMMODATION:

Blessed by nature, Portsalon is located on the Fanad Peninsula, one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations for golf. The course is set between the beaches of Ballymastocker Bay and the Inishowen Peninsula with wonderful views of Lough Swilly. Although short in length by modern standards, the layout provides a look at old-fashioned links golf with criss-crossing fairways and quirky hole locations.
Following golf enjoy lunch in the clubhouse. After lunch travel to Ballyliffin (1 hour 15 minutes).

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15
GOLF:

Ballyliffin New Course
BALLYLIFFEN NEW COURSE (9:00 AM)
Also known as the Glashedy Links (6982 yards, par 71), this relatively new course was designed by Pat Ruddy to attract more visitors to this northern location. Set amid rolling sand dunes and overlooking the Inishowen Peninsula, the New Course is expected to rank among the great links courses of the world. The course is very remote and hard to get to over small roads. However, once you get here you may not want to leave!
Following golf enjoy lunch in the clubhouse.
Dinner this evening at Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa (at leisure).
