Kittocks Course - Fairmont St. Andrews

KITTOCKS COURSE - FAIRMONT ST. ANDREWS

Bruce Devlin and the legendary Gene Sarazen teamed up to design one of Scotland's most interesting new courses. The second course at the beautiful Fairmont St. Andrews Resort, the Kittocks is an outstanding design with un-matched views of St. Andrews and the sea. There are some tremendous holes here and the cliff-side par-three 18th is one of Scotland's most exciting and unusual finishing holes.

This evening, you'll be met at the hotel by Golfpac's professional tour manager for a Scottish welcome and tour briefing.

Already recognized as one of Scotland's finest properties, the hotel is part of the Fairmont family of resorts and features two 18-hole championship courses, 209 comfortable guestrooms, a world-class spa facility, and three dining options. The location provides unmatched views of the historic university town of St. Andrews and St. Andrews Bay. On a clear day, you can see across the sea to Dundee and Carnoustie. It's a breathtakingly beautiful location!

GOLF:

Carnoustie Golf Links

CARNOUSTIE GOLF LINKS

Seven times a British Open course, Carnoustie is a stern challenge. Ben Hogan's only British Open appearance (and victory) took place here in 1953. The venerable links played host to the 1999 British Open which saw one of the most bizarre finishes in history. Frenchman Jean Van de Velde held a three shot lead with one hole remaining and took a triple bogey on the 18th to set up a three man playoff. Paul Lawrie, a native Scot, played brilliantly on the final two holes of the playoff for the victory over Van de Velde and Justin Leonard. The course hosted its seventh Open Championship in July 2007.

St. Andrews - New Course

ST. ANDREWS - NEW COURSE

Enjoy a round on the New Course at St. Andrews, which was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1894. At 6,604 yards, many locals consider this par-71 layout as tough a test as the Old Course itself. The best holes are at the turn, meandering through some of St. Andrews' largest dunes.

Please note: To play the Old Course, you also have to play one of the other courses in St. Andrews.

The Old Course was site of the 2005 Open, which saw Tiger Woods capture his second Open Championship on the Old Course. It was the 27th time that St. Andrews has hosted the Open. Walking up the 18th fairway toward the "Valley of Sin" and the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse is a thrill that every avid golfer should experience.

Please note: Tee times here can be difficult to arrange in advance; please see itinerary notes. Also, the Old Course has handicap restrictions of 24 or lower for men and 36 or lower for women.

In 1860 they announced 'A General Golf Tournament for Scotland,' which afterwards became known as the Open Championship. The course hosted the first 12 British Opens and features the vast Cardinal Bunker that stretches the width of the third fairway ? a treacherous hazard.

In the seaside town of Troon you'll find the Lochgreen House, set in its own grounds just off the Ayr/Prestwick Road. Built in 1905 by a Glasgow lawyer, this impressive house sits on 16 acres in the heart of Ayrshire's Burns Country. Lived in by several notable families, Lochgreen has been fully restored to a deluxe country house hotel. It is often used as a qualifying course when the British Open is at Turnberry or Troon and has played host to many other events including the Curtis Cup and the Scottish Amateur Championship. TEE TIMES AT ST. ANDREWS:

Unless a tee time has been reserved and announced in advance, tee times at St. Andrews are arranged through 'the ballot' on the day before play. At that time, a representative will advise you of the status of your tee time. At Golfpac, we realize how important playing golf at St. Andrews is to most groups. Over the past few years, tee times have become harder to guarantee on the Old Course, but we feel our success rate is second to none.

Important Note: Certain tee times for St. Andrews carry a #70 (British Pounds) supplement which would be added to the final invoice. This fee is reimbursed in the form of a voucher, which is good for merchandise and food in the St. Andrews Links Clubhouse.
