SundayArrive Scotland (Glasgow or Edinburgh), where youll be met by a Golfpac representative who will help secure your rental car and answer any last minute questions. From the airport travel to the historic university town of St. Andrews and check-in at the Fairmont St. Andrews for a four-night stay. FAIRMONT ST ANDREWSFormerly known as St. Andrews Bay, this incredible resort opened in June, 2001. Already recognized as one of Scotland's finest hotels, the hotel is now in the Fairmont family of resorts and features two 18-hole championship courses, 209 comfortable guestrooms, a world-class spa facility, and three dining options. The location provides unmatched views of the historic university town of St. Andrews and St. Andrews Bay. On a clear day, you can see across the sea to Dundee and Carnoustie. It's a breathtakingly beautiful location! KITTOCKS COURSE - FAIRMONT ST. ANDREWSBruce Devlin and the legendary Gene Sarazen teamed up to design one of Scotland's most interesting new courses. The second course at the beautiful Fairmont St. Andrews Resort, the Kittocks is an outstanding design with un-matched views of St. Andrews and the sea. There are some tremendous holes here and the cliff-side par-three 18th is one of Scotland's most exciting and unusual finishing holes. This evening, youll be met at the hotel by Golfpacs professional tour manager for a Scottish welcome and tour briefing. MondayTheres only one way to indoctrinate yourself into Scottish golf; tee it up. Today, travel about 40 minutes north for a round at Carnoustie. CARNOUSTIE GOLF LINKSSeven times a British Open course, Carnoustie is a stern challenge. Ben Hogan's only British Open appearance (and victory) took place here in 1953. The venerable links played host to the 1999 British Open which saw one of the most bizarre finishes in history. Frenchman Jean Van de Velde held a three shot lead with one hole remaining and took a triple bogey on the 18th to set up a three man playoff. Paul Lawrie, a native Scot, played brilliantly on the final two holes of the playoff for the victory over Van de Velde and Justin Leonard. The course last hosted the 2007 OPEN. Overnight at Fairmont St. Andrews. TuesdayYou wont have to travel at all today as youll play a round on the New Course at St. Andrews. ST. ANDREWS - NEW COURSEEnjoy a round on the New Course at St. Andrews, which was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1894. At 6,604 yards, many locals consider this par-71 layout as tough a test as the Old Course itself. The best holes are at the turn, meandering through some of St. Andrews' largest dunes. Please note: To play the Old Course, you also have to play one of the other courses in St. Andrews. Overnight at Fairmont St. Andrews. WednesdayTodays round is on hallowed ground as you put the peg in the ground at St. Andrews Old Course. GOLF: ST. ANDREWS - OLD COURSEThe Old Course was site of the 2005 Open, which saw Tiger Woods capture his second Open Championship on the Old Course. It was the 27th time that St. Andrews has hosted the Open. Walking up the 18th fairway toward the "Valley of Sin" and the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse is a thrill that every avid golfer should experience. Please note: Tee times here can be difficult to arrange in advance; please see itinerary notes. Also, the Old Course has handicap restrictions of 24 or lower for men and 36 or lower for women. Enjoy a wonderful three-course dinner in The Squire or Esperante Restaurant at Fairmont St. Andrews this evening. Overnight at Fairmont St. Andrews. ThursdayCheck out of the Fairmont this morning and drive about three hours west to the seaside town of Troon. Your host the final two nights will be the popular Highgrove House. HIGHGROVE HOUSE, TROONLocated about 45 minutes southwest of Glasgow, just outside the town of Troon, is this charming accommodation. The small hotel features nine comfortable bedrooms all attractively decorated with the expected amenities. The building was originally built by a retired sea captain who picked the hillside location because of the view toward the Firth of Clyde. The Highgrove and its sister hotel, the Lochgreen House, are both well known in the area for their superb restaurants. WESTERN GAILESFounded in 1897, the delightful course at Western Gailes Golf Club is very popular among the Scottish golf community. This par-71, 6,714-yard layout is a magnificent seaside links with excellent turf and wonderful greens. It is often used as a qualifying course when the British Open is at Turnberry or Troon and has played host to many other events including the Curtis Cup and the Scottish Amateur Championship. Like its neighbors at Troon and Prestwick, the course offers outstanding panoramic views of the Ailsa Craig and Firth of Clyde. Overnight at Highgrove House, Troon. FridayYour final round in Scotland is on one of our favorite tracks, Prestwick. This is Scottish golf at its diabolical best with blind shots and tremendous rough. PRESTWICK GOLF CLUBOne of Scotlands most prestigious courses, Prestwick (6,544 yards, par 71) was founded in 1851 when the club members enticed Tom Morris from St. Andrews to become their first professional. In 1860 they announced A General Golf Tournament for Scotland, which afterwards became known as the Open Championship. The course hosted the first 12 British Opens and features the vast Cardinal Bunker that stretches the width of the third fairway a treacherous hazard. Overnight at Highgrove House, Troon.
